Baharak Khaleghi is an Iranian multimedia artist based in the United States, who employs self-portraiture as a medium to foster dialogue about women’s issues. Her art is both a personal reflection on her own experiences and an exploration of the challenges encountered by other women.
My body has always been suppressed, culturally, socially, and politically. My role as a female artist, who shares nude self-portraits, is not just breaking the cultural and social taboos, but also getting to know another world where each of us is apart from sex and gender. This is my choice, my consent.
