Daantje Bons is a fine art photographer working and living in Utrecht, Netherlands. A big theme in her work is femininity, shown in it’s most honest and vulnerable form. To her, photography is a form of self-expression and self-portraits are of a great importance in her work. Trough these self-portraits she finds a way of exploring herself as a female. Another great importance are still life photography works, which mostly arise by intuition. Both portraits and still lives are bound together with a touch of humor and provocation, a combination which makes her complicated subjects more accessible. Feminism plays an important role in the work of Daantje, it’s about photographing from the heart and not apologizing for it.
