Gülin Uymaz is a professional fine art and experimental photographer born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, and now based in Berlin. Through self-portraiture and photos of other womxn, she tries to challenge the norms and taboos around the female body. she often captures both the subject and the walls to symbolize the boundaries of the world we live in, defined by the walls of patriarchy.
As a female photographer from Turkey, I have been criticized for the amount of nudity in my photos, since the female body and nudity are still taboos in my country. Through my work I want to show that our bodies are not things we should be ashamed of or be blamed for.
