“But who can remember pain, once it’s over? All that remains of it is a shadow, not in the mind even, in the flesh. Pain marks you, but too deep to see. Out of sight, out of mind.” – Margaret Atwood

For this fashion series, I was inspired by women empowerment and the concept of force in reaction to inequality, torment and objectification. The project explores the contrasting peaceful state of overcoming deep pain and distress. At the end of the battle, we are left with a luminous and mysterious healing place.

“A fierce deconstruction of the body and mind followed by reconstruction and inconceivable strength. It is like a sense of lightness and power after the darkness.” -Igliona

I loved shooting polish model Barbara Majder. She has given me the emotion i was seeking to translate: A mix of vulnerability, strength and beauty through her unique personality and aesthetic.
