Intervenir el Lienzo

Victoria Ocampo, a photographer and filmmaker based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, channels her creative vision into fashion, e-commerce, and music video production. A graduate of the Argentine School of Photography, Ocampo’s work delves into the intersection of personal and collective experiences, capturing the essence of contemporary life through her lens. Her artistic inquiry navigates themes of identity, body, sexuality, desires, and self-awareness, challenging societal constructs from her unique perspective as a woman.

In her latest series, Ocampo examines the metamorphosis of an artist from muse to creator, blending performance art with gender-focused photography. The series features a painter who engages with her self-portrait, translating its lines onto paper, then tearing and intertwining it with her own body. This act symbolizes the constraints and discomfort imposed by societal expectations. Ultimately, the painter reclaims her narrative by painting herself, a powerful declaration of autonomy and creative sovereignty.

Ocampo’s work provocatively addresses the traditional roles assigned to women in both art and society, making a compelling statement on female empowerment and artistic liberation.

I am interested in showcasing different ways in which culture shapes and categorizes us. My intention is to traverse these forms and present alternative ways of seeing and being.
