Julia Soboleva is a Manchester based illustrator and educator. Through the naked form and portraiture she explores emotional vulnerability, sensitivity, and difficulties of inner connection and connection between humans. She sees the actual process of making art itself as a way to connect to others and to herself; a universal language unbounded by time and space.
Her current postgraduate research focuses on a reader-response theory, and how through reading we find our own authenticity. At the moment, Julia is a full time mum and a part time freelancer within editorial, book cover design and children book illustration.
