Kayla Winterton is an American-born photographer currently living and working in Chicago, Illinois.
Portraiture of young women in an environment is Kayla’s main area of focus, although fashion is also a favorite. To her, photography is more than a pretty picture; it is a storytelling tool that showcases the strength of an individual’s characteristic. In her whimsical imagery Kayla reveals her own personal emotion, truth and hidden meanings through lighting and composition. More importantly it is an instrument she uses to display empowerment through artistic means.
“The project Bedtime revolves around the concept that we as women are not always the perfect standards that are shown throughout the media. We do not always go to bed in sexy lingerie with loads of makeup and perfect hair. Women are different body types, skin colors and hair textures. Overall, we are perfect and powerful just the way we are.”
