@lauranadeszhda

Laura Nadeszhda is an actress, writer and visual artist from Madrid, Spain. She studied Performing Arts in Spain and France, which influenced her to carefully stage the scenery of her pictures. She aims to portray femininity and girlhood classic imagery and memorabilia in an empowering way, not as a weak and submissive aesthetic but as a soft and powerful one.

I like playing with vulnerability and the right to be sad, lonely or unmoved, to show feelings that society usually wants hidden. In my pictures I point out as well key issues related to feminism as slut shaming or period visibility. I use my own phone to take my pictures as an act of intimacy and spontaneity even if my fantasy and theatrical scenery pursues the opposite to create a distancing effect and not an emotional one.
