Marisa Chafetz is a photographer based between New-York and New-Orleans. Her works are always a personal narrative. They imitate elements of cinema in order to indicate that the photos make up a story. Marisa emulates the style of a film still by using dramatic color, action, and interesting “characters”. It is Chafetz belief that these simple moments are the building blocks for every narrative ; in art and in life.
“My photos are an exploration of how to visually portray a readable narrative, while leaving enough room for viewers to fill in the blanks with their own imaginations and experiences. The intent of my work is to create a narrative that is non-specific in time or place ; a narrative that is built only upon universal emotion and memory : a first kiss, hanging out with your best friends, the way the air feels when the sun starts to set.”
