Society often confines beauty standards to the young, fresh, and new, perpetuating a taboo that exclusively values perfect bodies. This project originated from Barbara Cannizzaro‘s desire to celebrate beauty that transcends age boundaries. By showcasing her 81-year-old mother, Cannizzaro intends to challenge societal norms and combat the prevailing notion that associates beauty solely with youth and perfection.
I asked my mother if she wanted to help me create real images of a woman full of life despite her age. She happily accepted. This is my mom on her 81st birthday.
