This is for The Too Much Women

This project is a digital feminist zine by freelance journalist Hannah Emery, created in collaboration with illustrator Eleanor Joanna, to voice and validate the impact of the subtle persecution against the ‘too much’ woman.

Women are criticised using a language of rationality which attempts to scrutinise the female existence. Critiques of being ‘too much’ are a mechanism used to diminish and, ultimately, silence women. This language destroys self-confidence and willingness of expression, by affirming the belief that it is possible for a woman’s existence to be incorrect. It is time we stop making women feel as if they’re wrong, and time we start calling this rhetoric what it is: phycological oppression.
