Veils of light

Vlada Nebo is a queer photographer based in London, known for her evocative self-portraits. Her work often centers on bare skin, empty space, and vulnerability. While her primary focus is self-portraiture, she is also deeply interested in photographing queer and female bodies. She is currently pursuing a PhD in photography.

In this series, Vlada turns her lens toward Noelle — a transfemme model and close friend. Although she usually explores identity through images of herself, this time she chose to photograph Noelle with the same intimacy and perspective she brings to her self-portraiture.

Vlada had spent the past year working in studios with large teams, but this series was different — shot quietly in her living room on an April afternoon, using only natural light. The images explore the lines of the body in space, and the vulnerability and strength that come with being seen.
